i-Flyball Shoot Plans
First let me say that I didn't come up with the idea for this shoot. I got the idea for the shoot from the Scotia Dust Devils' web site and I give them full credit for the design. Since they had only pictures and some suggestions as to how to build the shoot I took the measurements from the shoot I built and these are the plans you see here.
I believe that this shoot is superior to others that may be in use because it has a longer ramp and is ideal for larger dogs. I've seen some smaller shoots that the larger dogs could just reach up and take the ball without ever running up on the shoot. With this shoot the dogs must actually be on the shoot to get the ball no matter how big they are. It is also a much better tool for teaching new dogs because of the adjustable nature of the shoot. You can start off training a new dog at its lowest settings and most will readily run up on it because it is so low. As they get more experience you start raising the shoot and dropping the ball to a lower position, which teaches the swimmers turn, and the dogs don't even know they are being trained.
The shoot can be adjusted in height starting at the lowest setting of 15° and increase to a full 60° with 15° increments. The shoot shown below is set at 30°.
